A challenge for the Professional Photographer

A challenge for the Photographic Professional  – SWPP Observation

Last weekend about 5000 photographers visited the SWPP convention at the Novotel Hammersmith, West London.

It was a good show – not of course as big as next month’s Focus on Imaging at the NEC, Birmingham – but directed at the professional photographer.

Many attended the 100 or so lectures. Being stand-bound I could not. Several speakers I would like to have heard.

There were many professionals there. Some giving and attending seminars – some visiting the booths – and I had a number of good conversations. You learn a lot from them. But what struck me was the number who said “I’m just starting”.

Are these professionals – or like me amateurs with a good camera. Maybe some were working for a city bank a month ago and thought “What can I do? I’ll be a photographer”. No formal training – just set up shop and learn on the job.

It’s so easy to get started now. Gone are the days when you took the picture on expensive film – with very limited scope for subsequent adjustment. Now you can take zillions of pictures (some will be good) and manipulate the results to your heart’s content. The true ‘pro’ will be more productive because he has got it right first time; and will be faster in post processing too. His or her work will have that added flair.

But he has more competition.

OPUS Photo Art Albums

Each album comprises 40 pages of digital archival smooth cotton or soft textured paper bound into a replaceable sheet hard museum board covered album, Sizes – 8×8, A4, 12×12 and A3.

Photo Art AlbumsMany photographers are using OPUS Photo Art Albums for their proof books – in 8″x8″ or A4.  Run off three or four copies in a format that makes your clients want to buy the more expensive versions.

Also use OPUS Photo Art albums for versions for
those relatives and friends who would not otherwise have bought an album from you.   Hint: don’t offer this till the first line relatives have paid for their more expensive offerings!

The Pics Book – more than a Photobook

Pics BookAn Alternative is the OPUSalbums Pics book. This is a
different approach but ideal as a photobook.
Hard covers (A5, A4, 12×12, A3), heat bound using an economically priced Unibind binding machine – with thicknesses from 5 to 15mm. Covers come in a variety of styles and colours. You can choose from any of the
Innova or OLMEC papers we offer – or use your own. So everything is under your own control.

Make your own Prints with Innova FibaPrint or Photo Art Papers

FibaPrint PaperInnova FibaPrint papers – particularly those with warm tone – are absolutely fantastic for printing wedding photos – “the real ones”.  This award winning archival paper used by many of the world’s leading photographers is a digital solution to fibre based baryta papers used in the conventional darkroom.  Exceptional gamit and DMax rating.

Innova Textured PhotoArt Papers offer a photographic artist an avenue to express creativity and beauty in the output by providing a wide range of papers, so you can match the artwork to the paper texture and weight. But it is not just for fine art. The soft textured papers make the paper ideal where the softer atmosphere is desired. It makes an excellent wedding photo paper, paper for glamour photography and the like. It will bring out the bride at her best.

Innova Cotton White Photo Art Papers allow the photographer the same consistency when producing their creative work, with accurate colour and the high impact expected from today’s digital inkjet printer, on a true archival art paper.

Also don’t forget Innova Polycotton Canvas, Innova Canvas Effect Paper, Innova Wide Format and OLMEC
